In MKP, being an Elder means more than surviving many trips around the sun. Eldership is the active principle of applying long-accumulated wisdom to advance the human experiment. As Elders we accept responsibility for continuing our personal journeys at a life stage when most men begin to coast. And we realize our potential to mentor the next generation (or two) in the ways of mature masculinity.
Camp Chestnut Ridge is just south of I-40, west of Chapel Hill. Here’s a sample of the agenda:
- “Masculinity” – Darwin Honeycutt
- “A Good Death” – Jim Schwartz
- “A Walk on Mother Earth” – Jimmy Thiem
- Friedman’s Fables – Darwin Honeycutt
- Ritual Elder recertification
- Declared Elder ceremony
- Ample time for recreation and connection.
